About Rocklin
Rocklin residents enjoy the
diversity of the great outdoors (the Sierra Nevada mountains and
foothills) and the metropolitan city life of Sacramento, the
California state capital.
Rocklin, started as a railroad town in the mid-1800s. The Rocklin
of today encompasses a variety of businesses, from warehousing and
software companies (including Oracle), to thriving commercial
businesses including shopping centers, offices, retail and
services.
Recreational activities include numerous golf courses,
neighborhood parks and bike trails. Located next to Highway 80,
residents can reach water and snow skiing areas, hiking, mountain
biking, fishing, and white water rafting activities very
quickly. Lake Tahoe and Reno, Nevada are within a two hour
drive.
Strategically centered in South Placer County,
Rocklin is serviced by a network of local regional hospitals and
health maintenance organizations. In 1997 the new Sutter
Roseville Medical Center opened, just two miles west on Interstate
80 from Rocklin providing a full service medical facility. More
recently a large new Kaiser Hospital and health care facility
opened in nearby Roseville.
Rocklin Unified School District educates young residents providing
quality education through six elementary schools, one middle
school and a new high school. Nearby California State University
Sacramento features both undergraduate and graduate programs in a
variety of disciplines. Both Sierra Community College and Rocklin
High School have been selected for a variety of sports events, and
sports participation for all age groups is provided through the
Community Services Department.
Rocklin's residential developments offer homes for the first time
homebuyer or move up buyers. Whitney Oaks is one of the
developments in Rocklin that offers homes designed for senior
citizens. The majority of the homes in Rocklin are single family
dwellings. Major projects include Stanford Ranch with over 6500
homes; Whitney Oaks with 2385 homes and an 18-hole golf course;
Sunset West with 3081 homes; the new Highlands area with 299 homes
completed and many more to be finished; and Club Pacific, a 372

sites. |
